Spring 2020 Season is on HOLD!

Dear Soccer Families,
As you know by now there are new social-distancing measures directly impacting us all. As a soccer club, we fall under the jurisdiction of CJSA which follows US Soccer. As of right now, all NHSC activity is on hold until at least April 15. We don't know much beyond that at this time, but we are hopeful that we can play soccer this spring--even if delayed a little bit. When we know more information or have any updates, we will email, post on Facebook, and update our homepage. Stay safe, stay home, and get your touches in because before you know it we'll be back on the pitch.

From CJSA:

Effective Friday, March 13, 2020, Connecticut Junior Soccer Association is suspending all affiliated and sanctioned soccer activities statewide through April 15th due to the evolving COVID-19 situation. For our member organizations (towns, clubs and leagues) this includes, but is not limited to: all games, practices, clinics, training, ODP, tournaments, in-person meetings and Coaching Education Courses.

Trusting that players, coaches, referees and spectators would never knowingly compromise themselves or others, the fact is that our sport and its related activities provide an opportunity for the virus to spread which we feel is our duty to help avoid (excerpt from the CDC below):

"...COVID-19 is mainly spread through respiratory droplets (sneeze, cough, or sweat) when in close contact (within 6 feet) OR by touching a surface with such droplets and then touching one's own mouth, nose or eyes..."

As a result, both US Soccer and US Youth Soccer have made a similar decision regarding soccer activities under their purview. They asked the state associations to assess the risks and benefits of postponement, suspension and/or cancellation of upcoming events and Connecticut Junior Soccer - along with many other state associations - has taken this guidance with the highest level of concern. Our decision to suspend soccer related activities and promote social distancing was made in accordance with guidance we received from public health and medical professionals at the federal, state and local levels. We don't take these types of decisions lightly. But, in the interest of making the health and safety of the entire soccer community, in addition to all others statewide, paramount, we know this is the right step to take.

Connecticut Junior Soccer will evaluate conditions on a continuing basis to determine when it is appropriate to reinstate our affiliated and sanctioned soccer activities.

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteering with the Soccer Club! The Soccer Club has some immediate needs for volunteer help!

We need help with communications and registration support. This position involves helping the web site administrator with updating the web site, and more importantly, responding to emails from parents and coaches during the registration period and during the season. Like the Treasurer position, this is mostly behind the scenes and can be done from home. It is busiest during the registration period before the start of the season, when parents are registering. Typical tasks include responding to emails regarding registration or scheduling and sending out group email reminders during the season. Technical skills are not required, just good communication and organization! If you have any questions, please contact us at nhscwebmaster2@gmail.com

Additional volunteer help in other positions, and coaches, are always needed! Please have a look at our web site for more details: http://northhaven.cjsalive.org/volunteer

Thank you!
